At TEDxAthens, we believe that ‘Great Ideas Change Everything’, and we have made significant efforts to ensure that everyone can participate equally in their sharing, regardless of how they move or perceive the environment.
We have ensured that the event takes place in an accessible venue for people with mobility challenges and individuals with disabilities.
There will be accessible parking spaces for people with disabilities.
There will be convenient seating in both stages, as well as unobstructed movement between the two stages, and the areas for food and the party.
For people with visual or mobility impairments, there will be assistance available to guide them around the event and help with meals if requested.
In addition to physical access, there will also be access to the content.
Prior to the event, we worked to ensure that videos have subtitles and that photos have alternative text. During the event, speakers will explain any images that may be included in their presentations, and the program and other information will be available in Braille, large print documents, and electronically accessible via QR codes.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals will also have access to the content of the talks, as Speech-to-text Interpreting will be provided, and the videos shown will have subtitles. Announcements made in the venue will also be simultaneously displayed in the event’s app.
For neurodivergent individuals, a quiet decompression space will be available.
Finally, as we understand the challenges of traveling to the event venue, as well as the possible need for a person with a disability to be accompanied by a companion, we provide a free ticket for the companion of any disabled person who needs one.
If you have any feedback after the event, you can contact us at info@TEDxAthens.com, and we will try to address it for next year.
