Athens, October 10, 2024

TEDxAthens made a powerful return on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Peiraios 260, Athens Epidaurus Festival, with the theme X Machina, focusing on the intersection of technology and human creativity. The event brought together innovation, art, and technology, drawing a diverse audience of over 2,500 in-person attendees, ranging in age from 8 to 70, and an additional 3,100 viewers who followed both the main and alternative stages via livestream.

Main Stage and Talks: Fourteen distinguished speakers on the main stage covered a wide range of topics, from artificial intelligence and robotics to the environment, health, art, and human psychology. Patrick Tatopoulos, Evy Poumpouras, and Dimitris Papanikolaou captivated the audience by sharing their stories. Miyoko Schinner and John Tasioulas brought attention to two very timely issues: the need to rethink our eating habits and the rise of artificial intelligence.

Alternative Stage and Lab: The Alternative Stage hosted nine unique discussion panels featuring renowned guests. Topics such as mass tourism, mental health and screens, Gen Z and AI sparked conversations both on and off the stage. Meanwhile, at the Lab, participants had the chance to attend creative workshops, make their own perfume, experience sound healing, and engage in interactive Q&A sessions.

Activities and Artistic Events: The event spaces were buzzing with energy throughout the day, offering a wide array of activities for attendees to explore. One of the highlights was the creation of a 15×5 meter painted mosaic, where the audience itself contributed to its completion.

Birthday Party with DJ Timo Maas: What’s a birthday without a party? After the event’s official program wrapped up, the celebrations continued with the most spectacular party of the season, featuring Grammy-winning DJ Timo Maas, who gave the audience an unforgettable experience.

Volunteers and Contributions: TEDxAthens 2024 would not have been possible without the invaluable support of over 130 volunteers, aged 15 to 67, who contributed their enthusiasm and hard work to ensure the event’s smooth execution. Ideas continue to change the world, and we are already planning our next steps. Stay tuned!
