George Boskou

Food Chemist | Vice Rector of Harokopio University Athens

George Boskou is Associate Professor in Food Service Organization and Management, at the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, School of Health Sciences & Education of Harokopio University Athens. 

He studied Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has a postgraduate degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Ghent University, Belgium, and a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences from the same university. He is a founding member of the  Interdisciplinary Society for Food Hygiene Assurance (DEDYT) and the Scientific Society of Olive Encyclopaedists (4E). 

He is an external partner of the Mediterranean Agricultural Institute of Chania and the American Farm School. He has served several times as member and chairman of award committees for food companies. His research and educational work focuses on food safety, total quality management, food legislation, food services, new product development, gastronomy and culinology. He has 50 scientific publications with more than 2000 citations in Scopus. In addition to the published work, he has participated as a researcher in about 12 technological patents and certification standards.
