Q&A with Dr Ioannis Kaplanis

The discussion will focus on several important aspects of the Festival, beginning with its footprint—its influence and contribution to the cultural sector, both locally and internationally. The conversation will also explore the Athens Epidaurus Festival’s (AEF) outward focus, examining how it communicates, influences, and is influenced by the international scene through collaborations, artistic exchanges, and its global presence. Another key topic will be the evolution of Pireos 260, from its early days to its current role as a cultural landmark. In this context, the Festival’s long-term development vision will be discussed, aiming to strengthen its cultural offerings and enhance its engagement with audiences. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on the relationship between AEF and local communities, as well as the Festival’s “green” impact, with initiatives promoting sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint.
