Yiannis A. Retsos was born in Athens in 1969. He holds a degree in Law from the University of Athens. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree from Cornell University in the USA, specializing in “Hospitality Real Estate Finance.”
He has been actively involved in tourism issues since 1999. From 2009 to 2012, he served as president of the Athens-Attica-Argosaronic Hotel Association. From April 2011 until July 2017, he served as president of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation (HHF).
Today, he is the CEO and one of the major shareholders of Electra Hotels & Resorts, a company managing six hotels in Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, and Kefalonia. G.A. Retsos was first elected president of the Hellenic Tourism Confederation (SETE) in May 2017. He completed two three-year terms and left the tourism sector in May 2023.
In March 2020, he was appointed a regular member of the General Council of the Bank of Greece. His term at the Bank of Greece was renewed for another three years in April 2023. Since February 2020, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research.
